Fire Inspector/Fire Engineer

Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different job roles. We are growing in line with the development of the municipality, with more residents, more housing, and a greater range of services. We are always on the lookout for new talent - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.

Your New Job

As an employee in the accident prevention department, you will be part of a team of about 15 dedicated colleagues with various competencies and experiences.

Together, we work to prevent fires and other accidents in the community.

A central part of the job is inspection work according to the Fire Protection Act. This means you will conduct site visits in various types of businesses – such as industries, schools, healthcare facilities, and public venues – to assess fire safety and ensure compliance with regulations. You will work closely with your colleagues to standardize assessment levels and develop common working methods.

If deficiencies are discovered, you document your assessments to formulate service notes and orders that require corrective actions. This is a role where you combine meetings with people, analytical thinking, and clear communication – making a real difference for safety in the community.

In addition to inspections, there are great opportunities to tailor your tasks based on your background and skills, making the job both varied and developmental. We ensure that you receive an introduction that matches your experience, so you can quickly get into the work and feel secure in your role.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • is a fire engineer or has another suitable engineering degree. Alternatively, you may have work experience in a relevant field such as fire protection, construction technology, inspection firms, or regulatory enforcement.
  • dare to take initiative, sees opportunities instead of obstacles, and enjoys making decisions even when the circumstances are complex.
  • has a pragmatic approach and a practical attitude towards problem-solving.
  • can take responsibility, has a strong inner drive, and is motivated by achieving results together with the team.
  • is skilled at expressing yourself in writing and has the ability to explain and motivate clearly and pedagogically.
  • has the right personal qualities and values for the role of a public authority representative and a profile that complements our team.
  • holds a valid driver's license (B).

Meritorious

If you have expertise in operational rescue services, it is considered an asset.

We Offer You

  • flexible working hours
  • welfare benefits
  • training opportunities at the workplace
  • shortened working hours to seven hours during June–August
